Editorial Bautista Independiente

This week John had the priviledge of traveling to Sebring, Florida to visit the offices of EBI. This is the Spanish Publications Ministry of Baptist Mid-Missions. EBI produces and distributes high-quality materials including Sunday School lessons, Bible study books, Bible reference books, Devotional books and much more. Countless churches, Seminaries, and pastors use this material throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

John was able to sit in on the annual meeting. There are many exciting plans and projects for the days ahead. The need for good Spanish ministry material is increasing around the world, including the US. Be sure to spread the news of Editorial Bautista Independiente with anyone ministering in Spanish.

As an added bonus John managed to enjoy a bit of time outside in the warm Florida breeze!

On the Road Again...

We had a wonderful holiday season and we are now back to a busy travel schedule. So far this year we have visted in churches in Winston-Salem, NC; Harrisonburg, VA and Henderson, NC. We have had some very positive results in each meeting. God is working in the lives of many people. It is exciting to see folks burdened for the lost souls of the world. It has also been a blessing to report on, and promote the ministry in Peru.

Today, John had a special opportunity. He was able to participate in the funeral of a dear saint of God that passed away last week. Rev. Edgar Danner was a dear friend and faithful prayer warrior for our family. He passed away at the age of 89. It was the first time that John helped with a funeral. It was actually a celebration of Rev. Danner's life. It was a real joy to see the number of people he impacted throughout his many years of ministry. It was a challenge to us all as we seek to serve the Lord everyday.

This weeks travels took us to Calvary Baptist Church in Henderson, NC.

Today's News from Peru

The daughter of former president Alberto Fujimori, along with thousands of supporters, marched through Lima's streets to register his candidacy for the April presidential election. Fujimori is still in Chile where he is trying to avoid extradition to Peru to face corruption charges. A congressional ban prevents him from officially running for president until 2011. His supporters claim the ban is unfair and will be overturned.

Fujimori remains a popular candidate despite his shaky past. Fujimori helped build Peru's economy and drove the Shining Path terrorists from the country. He is also accused of stealing more then 50 million dollars from the Peruvian people. Peru's political future seems very uncertain as the election approaches. Many South American countries have recently turned toward a socialistic form of government which could shut out missionaries and the spread of the Gospel. Pray that God will overrule in the coming elections and keep peace alive in Peru.

Celebrating Ten Years Together

On Friday, December 30th we celebrated our tenth anniversary. We enjoyed some time together at Roanoke, Virginia's historic Hotel Roanoke. It is amazing to look back and reflect on the wonderful years God has given us together.
