Fall has arrived!

Here is a beautiful tree in our back yard. It is interesting to experience fall for the first time in five years. In Peru there is no drastic seasonal weather changes. Take a look at Elizabeth experiencing fall for the first time.
Pray for Peru
Peru is once again in the news because of an unusual political situation. Peru has had an unstable political climate for decades. In 2000, former President Alberto Fujimori left the country to seek exile in Japan. Ever since this time the Peruvian government has tried to have him returned to Peru for trial on several charges of corruption. Fujimori has always denied these charges. Fujimori was able to end the terrorism that plagued Peru for years, he was also able to improve the economy unlike any other president in the nations history. However, he was suspected of corruption and human rights violations during part of his almost dictatorial reign in office.
Fujimori has just been arrested and will probably face charges in Peru. He is seeking to run as President in the upcoming elections. He has thousands of supporters that are hoping to see the charges dropped and this once great leader returned to office. Peru's future seems uncertain at this time as the election approaches. Please pray that God will keep this mission field open and that peace will continue to reign in our mission field.

A Taste of Peru in Roanoke, Virginia!
Recently, while visiting churches and family in Roanoke, Virginia we were amazed to see a Peruvian restaurant. One of the most popular dishes in Peru is "Pollo a la Brasa" which is rotisserie chicken. It is cooked over hot coals and has a unique taste because of the smoke and special seasoning. In Lima, Pollo a la Brasa restaurants are on nearly every corner. We usually eat at one every Sunday on our way home from church. We have really missed our weekly meal of delicious chicken. It was great to have one of our favorite meals from Peru, in Virginia!
Even better than the food, was the opportunity we had to meet and chat with the Peruvian owners of the restaurant. We discussed Peru, their families, and church. They were really surprised that we spoke Spanish, and that we actually live in Peru. We hope to chat with them again in the future. If you are in Roanoke, Virginia be sure to give them a visit and get a little taste of Peru!
