It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Below you will find a picture of our apartment. God blessed us by allowing us to purchase a home here in Peru this past August. Living on the third floor gives us plenty of exercise going up and down the steps!

We are heading into our fall season here in coastal Peru. However, the weather remains hot. Today the high will be around 85 degrees. There is plenty of sunshine this time of year, but there is a nearly constant haze.

Tonight, we have our weekly Bible study and prayer meeting. I will be speaking on the names of God tonight. We will also take time to thank God for His blessings last week.

The third floor of this building is our apartment.

A Great Weekend

As promised, we want to update you on the special Easter weekend campaign. Each night we had a good attendance. We were also happy to see new visitors in every service. Some unchurched neighbors who normally aren't interested in the church decided to visit this week. Our church folks really worked hard to invite friends, neigbors and family. The church was packed with people the entire weekend.

The greatest news of the weekend is that two ladies trusted Christ as their personal Savior!

Last night we also celerated the third anniversary of the church. We had a huge cake, and a dinner prepared by the church ladies. We enjoyed the service and looking back at all the ways God has blessed La Iglesia Bautista La Fe.

The church ladies prepared a delicious meal of "Causa Rellena" a combination of lemon-spicy cold mashed potatoes stuffed with chicken.

Everyday life in Peru

Like these prices? At the current exchange rate we are paying $4.40 a gallon for gas! I guess prices in the US don't sound so bad now.

By the way...that Gas station is named after the Pope!

Successful start to Campaign

God blessed in a special way last night during the first night of our Easter weekend campaign. "Good Friday" is a very special holiday in Peru. Almost everyone has the day off from work, and the streets are empty all day. As we headed to church I wondered if we would have anyone there to listen to the message.

At least 80 people were there for our first service! There were at least 10 first time visitors.

Many people were seeking spiritual counsel after the service. Please pray for the rest of our weekend services. Pray that God will work in the lives of these folks that came to church looking for something in their lives. The good attendance and successful evening were not the only news from last night. Something New...

Over the last several years many folks have faithfully prayed for our family and ministry. Now, we hope to provide an easier way for you to stay up-to-date with the life of the Poe family.

During our first term in Peru we have learned the real importance of prayer! We
depend on our faithful prayer warriors.

In the days ahead look for ministry photos, updates and much more! Plus you can post comments and questions to interact in an interesting way with your missionaries in Peru.

Surprised?

When most people think of Peru, they think of the tropical rainforest and the mighty Amazon river. Did you know that Peru's desert coast is one of the driest places in the entire world? In our nearly four years in Peru we haven't seen any real rainfall.

During our upcoming furlough in the states we hope to show all of you how we are bringing the water of life to Lima. Peru is more than a dry land it is a spiritual desert with millions of souls looking for truth. We are thankful God has allowed us to help quench the spiritual thirsts of many! Yet there is much more to be done.

Think this looks dry?
